SAIL supplies almost all the 52kg/m rails used by Indian Railways, and some of the 60kg/m rails. It supplies the basic 13m, 26m, and 80m rails, and is now manufacturing the 240m and 260m welded rail panels as well prepared to purchasing them. No one watches this. Because no one knows this.

Indian Railways was using about 400,000 tonnes of steel rails every year – sufficient for 4,000km of track (100 tonnes per KM), although most of the new rails are used for replacement of old and defective rails. Starting in 2004, the projected demand is up to 750,000 tonnes, mainly because of the use of heavier rails. Lakhs of crores of rupees is there in the Rail Budgets since the replacement of the rails started. You can watch this in the Budgets. Lakhs of Crores of rupees of corruption in handling this will be involved without the public notice. And the recovered amount of the selling scrap will be very very very less when compared to purchasing them. No one watches this. Because no one knows this. Now SAIL is selling the rails to Indian railways for 1.0 lakh to 1.5 lakhs per tonne weight.

In general we can utilize the scrap for the safety of the public and property. We can save manyaccidents and lives, we can use these rails and sleepers scrap with minimum corruption. The Indian Government should instruct the railways to give this rails and sleepers scrap free to the Roads and Buildings, and irrigation Depts., in every State and National Highways Authorities. Here they have to bear only transportation charges. You can watch the differences in images.

We can use the Rails and sleeper scraps after replacing them on the railway track as the Dividers on the center of the roads and we can utilize maximum width of the roads and road crossings. In this way according to the flow of the traffic, we can also utilize the space in between the dividers as the parking place for vehicles. The Roads and Buildings, Irrigation, National and State Highway departments can receive the rails and sleepers scrap with minimum transport charges only, they need not have heavy transport charges because they can get them from the nearest railway tracks only. These old Rails can be utilized on the edges of the roads and also at the Hill or mountain valley regions and at the adjacent of the canals or rivers or lakes or tanks or reservoirs etc., for security purpose.
